Chages apply to MSED and Initial Certification

Rationale: These changes are to streamline the middle school science education master’s program to match the math program and make it more efficient.

1. SPED 5200K: Intro to Inclusive Practices in STEM Classrooms, a course better suited to science teaching candidates, replaces SPED 5000K.

2. EDSE 7600A and EDSE 1201E, courses that focus on literacy and inclusion and ELL students, will be replaced with EDSE 2800E, a course already offered by the math program. As in the math education program, content is incorporated into EDSE 3100E and EDSE 3900I.

3. Twenty-one credits of required science education credits were reduced to 18 credits. Candidates may not necessarily need 21 credits to build their science core. If candidates have not completed required science pre-requisites (15 crs.), then they will be required to take missing science electives.

4. Name changes for EDSE 3105E and EDSE 7202I to reflect streamlining with the math program.
