Description
This course provides an opportunity for students enrolled in EDSE 3100E or EDSE 6100E to link to and extend their fieldwork experiences as participant/observers and to connect their experiences to current research into the theories and practices of student learning. Students will conduct a lesson in their field placements as part of their fieldwork for EDSE 3100E or EDSE 6100E and this class. This lesson will be videotaped and critiqued during the seminar, providing an opportunity for the students to address adolescent learning theory in the context of actual classroom practice. Weekly topics include: cognitive science, student understanding, models of teaching, social construction of knowledge, investigating student ideas, and multiple representations of ideas.
