Course Title
Fundamentals and Applications of Microfluidics
Department(s)
Description
Advancements in micro-/nano-fabrication have created a new class of devices for precisely manipulating fluids. The resultant microfluidic devices provide useful platforms for chemical and biochemical analysis, material production, and a variety of physics and engineering studies. In this course, we discuss fluid flow and fluid characteristics in microchannels, micro-/nano-fabrication techniques for creating microfluidic devices, and applications to functional material production and biochemical analysis. Students have the opportunity to fabricate several simple devices. Previous knowledge of fundamental fluid mechanics is required to participate in this course.
