This course will review the history and evidence of inequality and social mobility worldwide, The first part of the class will focus on rising concerns of income and wealth inequality in the United States and policy preferences to The second part of the class will focus on social mobility. We will review the existing literature on social mobility and draw a comparison around the world. We will then focus specifically on evidence from the Americas. We will examine the determinants of social mobility, such as race, place, and education. This course will also focus on the role of higher education in determining social mobility and the long-term impact on policy and governance."
